Horseheads Dynamo U15 Girls Leave The Keepers Home to Test Defensive Skills.

Horseheads Dynamo Soccer Clubs’ U15 Girls Development Academy team left their keepers and strikers home and took to the road Sunday morning to test their defensive skills against older players and raise money for the Joe Santacrose Foundation.

The girls traveled to the Joe Santacrose March Madness tournament to raise money for children that can’t afford to play sports. This was an opportunity for the players to test their 1v1 skills against older U18 opponents.

The Horseheads girls started slow against the tournament’s second place team, letting three balls get past their defensive structure.  The players quickly recognized how to fix the issues of their first game and closed the open paths to tie the second game 0-0.

The ladies third game was against the tournament champions. The U15 girls practiced positions from center defensive midfield forward, playing with the objective of keeping the ball forward of the center line. During the twenty five minute game the U15 girls were able to keep the ball on the opponents half sixty eight percent of the time.

Congratulations to all the girls on a great tournament!

Elmira, NY. (March 8, 2010) Horseheads Dynamo Soccer Development Academy wins funding to help players develop better nutrition habits. Playing any sport at a true premier level requires talent and motivation. Whenever highly talented, motivated and well trained players meet in competition, the margin between victory and defeat is small. Attention to detail can make that vital difference. Diet affects performance, and the food that we choose while training and prior to competition affects how well we train and play. Players need to be aware of their personal nutritional goals and of how they can select an eating strategy to meet those goals. In the coming months a select group of Horseheads Dynamo Soccer Academy players will be working with specialists in sports dietetics to create a nutrition system that will support consistent training while limiting the risks of illness or injury.
